ARTICLE: Candidate Chase Padusniak Introduces Himself
Hello everyone, My name is Chase Padusniak, and I am running to be your Councilperson. I am doing so because I believe in Garwood. I was raised here from birth until I went away to college. While pursuing my doctorate at Princeton, I returned because I treasure our Borough and want to put roots down here with my wife, Gabby. I have lived in multiple countries, and no place I’ve experienced has Garwood’s heart. I believe in this place and the people who live here — a combination of young and old, lifelong residents and new neighbors. Our ability to make so much happen for so many people in such a small area is what makes us special.
I am running for Council because I believe Garwood needs someone like me in this moment of transition. My parents moved here in the 80s from neighboring Clark. I grew up playing on the old wooden jungle gym in Unami. I’ve gotten my dry cleaning done at King’s Cleaners since my first communion. I remember Lloyd’s and was deeply saddened to see Jerry’s close after so many phenomenal years. At the same time, I recognize that times change and that all communities need to grow and thrive. Our Borough is seeing an explosion of wonderful new businesses and residences. We have new sidewalks, recreational spaces, community organizations, and events. It is my firm belief that our community needs someone who knows Garwood like the back of his hand, someone who believes in what this town has been, is, and can be. I am just that person.
That’s why I would like to see an even more significant increase in community involvement. We grow together; we win together. I want everyone’s voice to be heard and for the community to know it has a listener and an advocate in me. As a volunteer member of the Garwood Partnership for Arts and Culture (GPAC), I’ve worked to increase opportunities for local artists; as a Councilman, I will ensure we steer Garwood in a way that benefits everyone, maintaining our strong traditions while making progress. I am committed to preserving the unique character of Garwood while ensuring a bright future for all. Above all, I want to ensure a happy future for our Borough and its people. This is the place I’ve always, and will continue to, call home.
